Who is CIArb

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), established in 1915 and granted a Royal Charter in 1979, operates across 133 countries with over 17,000 members. It promotes and facilitates Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms.

Empowered by its Royal Charter, CIArb focuses on three key objectives:

  • Promoting private dispute resolution, disseminating knowledge, and advising on its law.
  • Providing training and assessment pathways for practitioner qualifications and levels of membership.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and improving professional guidelines for practitioners while monitoring their performance.
